Sunday Social - All About Food - Yummy!!

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Man I am not sure that I could only pick one this.  I sure do love me some food!! Since I have to pick I think..ummmm....probably...(said in my Kid Clammy voice) Nope can't do it.  I am not usually a commitment phob but I have to in this case!

2. What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?

Mexican Food.  Love me some chips, salsa, rice, beans, and margaritas!

3. What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?

Probably the fried squid from our science dissection in the 8th grade.  I also wrote my name with the ink!

4. What foods do you avoid at all costs?

Sushi.  Man have I tired but every time I gag and get sick. 

5. What meal reminds you of your childhood?

Green Mashed Potatoes and Hot Dogs.  I used to ask for it every year on my birthday and my dad hated it but would eat it because it was my special day!!

6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.

Pineapple Delight.  My mom has made it for years and everybody loves it!

Ingredients

Crust

1. 2 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2. 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted

Filling

1. 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
2. 1/2 cup icing sugar
3. 2 eggs

Topping

1. 1 cup whipping cream, fresh
2. 1 teaspoon vanilla
3. 1 tablespoon icing sugar
4. 1 (19 ounce) cans crushed pineapple, drained

Directions

1. Crust: Mix graham crackers and butter together.
2. Press into 9 x 13 inch pan.
3. Bake in 250f degree oven for 15 minutes.
4. Cool.
5. Filling: In a bowl, cream together butter and icing sugar.
6. Add eggs and beat well.
7. Spread over cooled crust.
8. Bake in 350f degree oven for 25 minutes.
9. Cool.
10. Topping: Beat together whipping cream, vanilla and icing sugar until stiff.
11. Fold in pineapple.
12. Spread over filling.
13. Sprinkle extra graham wafer crumbs on top for a finishing touch.
14. Chill.

Doing the Happy Dance

Today I am doing a Happy Dance.  A Happy Dance because of the following

 

1) Its Friday for crying out loud!!

 

2) We are headed for a little camping this weekend.  Looking forward to some away time with my hubby, kiddos and some good friends

 

3)No work for 2 WHOLE days!

 

4) We are heading to Vegas for an adult weekend aways in less than 1 month!! 

 

5) Both kiddos slept thru the night last night!!  YAHOO!!

 

6) I got some really great compliments about my kiddos this week which always has a Mama wearing her proud button

 

7) Although house hunting SUCKS right now, the Hubs and I have made some decisions on our next steps

 

8) While potty training has not gone well to say the least -Kid Clammy did ask at least 4 different times this week to use the potty.  So hopefully we are headed in the right direction

 

9) While I am not excited about how fast time is moving and how fast my babies are growing I am excited about all the time I get to spend with them and even though it is almost August and it is shaping up to be a busy month we have some really fun things happening.  Wedding, Vegas, Birthday Parties, and hopefully other fun stuff

Twitter

So I love me some social media. Back in the day there was the good ole MySpace. Does anyone remember that! I am sure I am making myself look totally old right now but oh we'll. I have since moved on to a Facebook account and find myself checking on people's status' a few times a day, or play Candy Crush, and looking a photos and funny sayings. I also have Instagram which who doesn't just love it.   For me it seems far less dramatic than Facebook so that's a plus right there.  Not to mention all the fun things I am learning to do with the pictures!  Then comes along Twitter.  I mean how could you not love a cute little bird symbol?  Well it took me awhile to jump on that band wagon. I signed up and mainly just looked at pics because I was not getting the whole "RT" and tweet and only limited characters. Well now that I am following more people and blogging a little more I apparently need help. I STILL don't get twitter and I wish I did. So I guess I need some pointers, tips, lessons something to help me understand how this whole thing works. I assume you can't comment on something someone says unless you retweet?  I think you "tag" someone in their tweet by using the @ sign and their twitter name.  Am I anywhere close?  This is all so complicated in my book. 

Bottom line I would like to be more tweet-tastic so hook a sister up. Send tips, advice, dos don'ts anything. Then you could follow my progress on twitter @bbax562 

Maybe just maybe there will be hope for me yet!

 

Hello Wednesday

Oh Wednesday - where have you been all my life (well at least since the last time you were here)?  Oh you were hiding behind Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Well I am glad to see you again and that you are hiding any more - at least until you hide again tomorrow.  I heart you Wednesday so much today because you are telling me that the weekend is almost here.  A weekend that will involve two days of no work, a camping trip, family time, time with great friends oh and maybe just maybe if I am feeling a little crazy a cocktail!!  Look out weekend - because here I come!!

Oh my goodness - yet another tough question.  If I was going to pick one it would probably be...Bob Harper from Biggest Loser.  I really like what he does for people.

Dear Friday...I am so happy that we meet again!  Dear Sissy - Thank you for being such a great model for your pics today!! Dear Work - Not gonna lie - but I am not going to miss you for my two days off.  Dear Hubby - Looking forward to our date night tonight!!  Dear Kiddos - I love you to pieces but could you stop growing so fast!  Dear Weekend - Thank goodness you are here!!!

Happy Hump Day

Well well well...Wednesday you bring some really nice things today.

First and foremost it's HUMP DAY!! Whoot whoot!  (I love that commercial with the camel...hope I am not the only one)

Second - We are that much closer to the weekend!! Yahoo!

Third - Hubby is having some of his cool cars on display tonight at one of our local car shows

Fourth - One day closer to our Vegas trip.  Oh Las Vegas - how I have missed you!! We are down to 30..count 'em 30 days!! Yahoo!!!

So Much Change

My goodness gracious how time flies!  Wishing I could find a time machine to slow it down!!  Anyone else feel this way?  I have been just a smidge better about posting lately however so much has happened during my hiatus!!  To recap in bullet points...

•found out I was prego with baby número dos

•had a crazy sick pregnancy...sick like everyday from week six on,  It was barf city

•put on bed rest for the last two weeks of pregnancy...which when you have a two and a half year old...bed rest really doesn't exist 

•Kid Clammy is two and a half almost three and getting smarter by the minute

•had baby número dos...turned out she is a precious baby girl! (we didn't find out what we were having) 

•said baby girl we shall call her Sissy is now 5 months old 

•trying to adjust to life as a working mom of two...man that is hard

I am sure that there is so much more however I can't think of it right now nor do I want to bore you with it all!

Dear Friday - I am so happy that we meet again! I really wish you could come around more than once every 7 days - but hey I will take what I can get!  Dear House Hunting - you offically suck!! I am over you!!  Dear Work - can we strike a deal - can you only be 3 days long instead of 5?  Dear Kiddos - I love you to pieces and enjoy every minute I get to spend with you.  Dear Hubby - I love you very much - even when we have a bit of a rough patch!  Dear Weekend - See you soon!!!

They say it's your birthday....

Today is my Dad's birthday.  I want to wish him a very Happy Birthday!! He is such a special man, a wonderful father, and the most awesome grandfather!!  I am so lucky that God chose him to be my dad!!! Love you!!

Good Intentions

Good Intentions...I have them, I want to follow through on them, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

 

• Sometimes I plan on calling that friend I haven't talked to in a long time, but time slips away and we don't call.  Other times I do call and am so happy that I did because it was the best convo I had in a long time.   
 
• Sometimes I plan on having a great eating day - them temptation sets in and oops there goes that intention out the window and I fall off the wagon so to speak.
 
• Sometimes I plan on cleaning the house, but the kids are calling wanting you to play with them and that sounds much better than cleaning.

• Sometimes I plan on blogging everyday, every other, once a week, whatever the case may be and sometimes well life just gets in the way and I don't.  Sometimes I get so excited if I get a post in...hopefully more will come soon!!

 

I have had good intentions for all of these things and so much more, and busy life, obligations, diaper changes, dinner fixing, laundry, cleaning, work all of it gets in the way.
